Arudha Lagna Calculator

Your Jaimini image point — how the world sees you, as distinct from who you actually are.

Arudha Lagna needs an exact birth time — there's no noon-placeholder mode for this one.

How this works

Arudha Lagna (AL), also called Pada Lagna, comes from the Jaimini branch of Vedic astrology rather than the more familiar Parashari system your main birth chart is built on. Where your Lagna (Ascendant) represents your actual self, Arudha Lagna represents your perceived self — the image, reputation, and public persona others project onto you, which can differ meaningfully from your inner experience.

The classical method: find the planet ruling your Lagna sign, count the number of signs from the Lagna to that lord, then count the same distance again starting from the lord's own position — that lands you on the Arudha sign. There's one important exception, called the Arudha Padavat rule: if that count lands exactly on the Lagna itself or its 7th house, the result jumps instead to the 10th sign from itself, to avoid a degenerate (self-referential) result.

In practice, Arudha Lagna is used to understand the gap between self-perception and public perception — a common Jaimini technique is comparing planets and aspects on the Lagna versus the Arudha Lagna to see where someone's private reality and public image diverge, which can be genuinely useful for anyone navigating a public-facing role, career reinvention, or personal branding.

This is a depth-layer chart point best read alongside your full birth chart, not in isolation. Your free TaraQi chart gives you the Lagna, planetary placements, and dasha timeline this calculation builds on.
